We intend to equip pupils with knowledge, skills and understanding as set out in the Music National Curriculum so that children will know more, remember more and understand more. We use progression grids to ensure that prior knowledge, skills and vocabulary are built upon in subsequent year groups. At Fitzwilliam Primary School, we use the online programme ‘Charanga’ to enhance teacher’s CPD and to reduce workload. Progression grids, which match the Charanga programme, and the teacher’s own knowledge, are used to create detailed short-term plans.
